Beginning 2022 on the right foot, setting goals and creating new habits.
Welcome to Conscious Whispers!
You may wonder why a Home fragrance brand like Yeu’s Handmade would want to join the blog train and write articles. The answer is simple, we want to share stories with our community and shine a light on the projects brewing at HQ. This allows us to individually focus and shine a light on all our most interesting projects and stories that support all our objectives and a blog will allow us to discuss this in detail.
The Conscious Whispers blog will cover a wide range of topics that we are very passionate about. Topping the list will be, our mission to be a more eco-conscious and sustainability-driven community, sharing tips, stories, and must know ‘happenings’ within the community at large. In doing this we plan to use this platform to also showcase lifestyle hacks, our brand collaborations with amazing individuals or organizations that we relate to as a brand, and our love for; home fragrances and the beauty that is Africa.
We hope you will love this segment and join us in the journey to create wonderful and memorable adventures with our blog.
Speaking of lifestyle hacks, let’s confer on the trending issue which is New Year’s Resolutions and goal setting for the year. We will dive into how best we can tackle this topic to create a more well-rounded goal list that you can cross off.
It’s that time of the year when we are all rushing to purchase journals and all these beautiful multi-colored pens to meticulously write down all our 2022 goals and vision boards. If we were to ask anyone what their plans are or where they see themselves by the end of the year, they would without hesitation provide us with an endless list of monetary, career, or weight-related objectives. These are all magnificent goals to have to strive for “better”, better health, better lifestyles, and habits.
However, most of us may begin with all the energy in the world but as the year progresses, we end up slowing down and sometimes even giving up. But this year we say NO MORE.
We have managed to come up with a few tips that will help you create more sustainable and perhaps more attainable goals throughout the year.
So here it goes;
1.) WRITE DOWN YOUR GOALS
As cliché, as it may sound writing down your goals and documenting your progress, contributes a great deal to accomplishing them as it serves as an accountability tool. I don’t know about you but knowing that I have a set plan to work on all my desires pushes me to keep going and be ambitious.
2.) SHORT-TERM AND LONG-TERM GOALS
Not all goals should be achieved over an extensive period, some may need a couple of months or even weeks. Distinguishing your short-term goals from your long-term goals is of great importance as it helps you identify how much progress you have to make within a specific amount of time.
3.) S.M.A.R.T GOALS
‘You have to set goals that are almost out of reach. If you set a goal that is attainable without much work or thought, you are stuck with something below your true talent and potential’ a quote by Steve Garvey. This may appear as a contradiction to the above-mentioned point but one has to take into consideration the severity of the goal they plan to achieve in comparison to one’s capabilities. We all love easy tasks and achievements but let’s not make the mistake of settling for mediocrity and not fully living by undermining our potential. With that said the S.M.A.R.T (Specific-Measurable-Attainable-Relevant-Time-based) goals regimen is a powerful tool to use to establish exactly what goal, how, when, and where you plan to achieve them
4.) HEALTHY COMPETITION
Having healthy competition with your friends or family propels you, even more, to want to achieve your goal and show your full potential for example engaging in competition with your friend to see who will run the longest marathon in a month or who will save money more.
I have added a few friends to my Apple Watch so they can track my progress in a week. I have to get the summer body I know I deserve, for myself and the sake of my health.
‘At the end of the day, we are accountable to ourselves - our success is a result of what we do’ Consistency is key when working on improving your lifestyle and your surroundings. Always hold yourself accountable for your life. Reflect on your current situation, analyze your past mistakes and make the decision not to repeat them. You have to push yourself every day to show up for your life because no one is coming to wake you up, to persuade you, or reassure you.
Above all else, the greatest aspiration is to be happy and at peace. Make it a point that you are having fun and enjoying life in the process of achieving your goal. As much as we may want to grind 24/7 I believe that hustle-culture is a bit overrated. Sometimes we may need to take a day or two to recuperate and go again and that is completely fine.
This is your reminder that rest is just as important, as work is in the journey to success. Do not be too hard on yourself, the world is tough as it is already. Always try to take care of yourself mentally, emotionally, financially, environmentally and avoid situations or people who disturb your peace. Failure is part of the process so be gentle with yourself too, fail forward, and be patient with yourself.
The journey to self-love and success can be tough but you have to keep going.
We hope this article helps you this year and you manage to achieve the best version of yourself that you will fall in love with every day.
